Philosophy with Children Workshops in Partnership with Local Children’s Bookstore

The Knowledge Exchange is pleased to announce that we have concluded our final session of Philosophy with Children workshops with our first cohort of 8 youngsters!

Over the course of our camp children read and discussed philosophical elements of 4 picture books, including topics like:

  • What is beauty? Does art have to be beautiful or nice looking? Does everyone have to agree about what art is? (accompanied by “Ish” by Peter Reynolds)

  • How do you know what you know? Can you think of a reason for everything you believe or know? (accompanied by “Morris the Moose” by B. Wiseman)

  • What makes up a community? Can you belong to a community even if you are different from other members in some way? (accompanied by “The Big Orange Splot” by Daniel Pinkwater)

  • What does it mean to be or to have a friend? Do our friends have to be similar to us? Can our friendships change who we are? (accompanied by “Peach & Blue” by Sarah S. Kilbourne)

A big thanks, too, to our partner My Imagination Kingdom for providing the venue for these sessions.
